2008-04-15 Release Notes - How Product Images & Titles Work

Starting today, using new account related features you can display an image and title for your products on the ClickBank order form. When you login, you will notice these enhancements on your "My Images" and "My Products" pages.

Completing the setup process involves loading images to your account, linking the image to a product, and adding a product title. Please review each of the sections below for specific details about implementing these exciting new features.

1.1 Image & Title Rules

The following business rules apply to the implementation and use of product images and titles. Each rule was put in place to maximize your successful use of the features. Please be sure to review the rules prior to implementing these features.

Number of Images

You are allowed to load up to 20 images to your account without prior approval.

Image Specifications

Images loaded to your account must adhere to the following specifications:

    The order form will automatically adjust the image display area to accommodate the height and width of the image.

    Image Approval

    After an image is added it is automatically submitted for approval. ClickBank will review images daily. Images must not violate the terms and conditions set forth in the ClickBank client contract. If your image is approved its status on your "My Images" page will read "Approved." If your image has issues that require correction, we will notify you, and its status is set to "Disapproved." ClickBank must approve images before they can be tied to a product.

    Image Visibility

    Once an image is loaded, approved, and linked to a product, it will display on the ClickBank order form. Use caution while managing products that are currently receiving live traffic.

    Image Deletion

    You cannot delete an image that is linked to a product. In order to delete an image that is linked to a product you must first remove it from the product.

    Title Hierarchy

    Some ClickBank publishers already pass a title through their paylink URL parameters to the standard order form. If you are a publisher that passes a title through your paylink, the order form will decide which title to display based on the following logic:

    1. First choice is the "Product Title" entered for a product in your account
    2. If no "Product Title" is entered, second choice is the "detail" name value pair in payment link
    3. Third choice is the "titl" name value pair in payment link
    4. Finally, if no other values have been entered or used, the default is the CB generated name (e.g. CB-nickname-1)

    Title Length

    Product titles may not exceed 70 characters.

    1.2 Getting Started

    Getting started with a product image and title involves loading images to your account, getting them approved, linking them to the correct product, and adding a title for display on the order form.

    1.2.1 Loading Images

    To load images to your account:

    1. Go to "My Account" and log in to your ClickBank account
    2. Click on the "Account Settings" tab
    3. Click on "My Images" where you will have access to the image management interface (see screen shot 1.2.1.1).

    4. Click "Add New Image" to access the upload image interface
    5. Enter the image Name, which you will use to recognize your image throughout the process
    6. Enter the image Alt Tag, which is the text used to represent your image if a user has images disabled in their browser
    7. Browse to the location of the image to be uploaded and select it
    8. Check the check box (see screen shot 1.2.1.2).
    9. Click "Upload"

    10. After the image is uploaded you will notice its status "Approval Requested" (see screen shot 1.2.1.3).

    1.2.2 Image Approval

    Once you've loaded your image, the next step is to have your image approved:

    1. Upon completion of the image load process, your image is automatically submitted for approval
    2. A ClickBank staff member will review the image content once it is uploaded.
      Note: This may take up to two full business days
    3. Check your image status
      1. Approved images are set to an "Approved" status (see screen shot 1.2.2.1). Please keep in mind that you will NOT receive an email notification if your image is approved.

      2. Disapproved images are set to a "Disapproved" status (see screen shot 1.2.2.2). A notification is sent to the email address specified on your account with the status and an explanation.

        If your image is disapproved, correct the problem and load the image again by following the steps outlined in section 1.2.1.

    1.2.3 Deleting Images

    To delete images on your account:

    1. Go to "My Account" and log in to your ClickBank account
    2. Click on the "Account Settings" tab
    3. Click on "My Images" where you will have access to the image management interface
    4. Click the "Delete Image" button in the action column (see screen shot 1.2.3.1).

    1.2.4 Updating Your Products

    Once you have successfully loaded your images, and they are approved, follow these instructions to add a title and/or image to your product: To add a title regardless of whether you've loaded an image follow the steps below:

    1. Go to "My Account" and log in to your ClickBank account
    2. Click on the "Account Settings" tab
    3. Click on "My Products"
    4. Click on either the "Standard Products" or "Recurring Billing Products" tab
    5. Click "Add New Product" on the right hand side of the page or the "Edit this Product" icon in the action column
    6. Input the following information to the "Adding Product" window (see screen shot 1.2.4.1):
      1. Thank You Page URL (if there is not one already listed or if it needs to be changed)
      2. Product Price (if there is not one already listed or if it needs to be changed)
      3. Product Title
      4. Product Image
        1. To select the image to display on the order form, simply select the image name from the drop down box. The website will present the approved images for your account.
        2. Once selected, the image name is displayed to the right of the product image element. For more information on loading images see section 2.1.

    7. Click "Save Changes"
      Note: Once you click "Save Changes" the image and title you have selected for your product is displayed on the ClickBank order form (see screen shot 1.2.4.2).
